Saguaros are not native to Texas; they naturally grow only in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona, California, and northern Mexico. Yet a handful have survived and thrived here for decades.

I drove 11 hours to photograph this particular cactus, drawn by the rarity of seeing a mature saguaro standing in the Texas landscape.

This photo is printed on fine art paper and mounted on a salvaged window from an old Texas home. I chose the window not as a decorative element, but as part of the story. Both the saguaro and the window are marked by years of exposure to Texas sun, wind, and shifting conditions, each carrying its own history.

Together, they create a piece that is as much about preservation as it is about the landscape itself.
